Gaming is a major industry and contributor to the Canadian economy. In fact, at more than $15 billion, gaming:
• is the largest segment of Canada’s entertainment industry;
• directly supports more than 135,000 full time jobs; and
• generates almost $9 billion annually to fund government and community programs and services.
The size and growth of gaming in Canada is reflective of the increase in availability of legal gaming options in response to market demand, consumer tastes and societal change.
As part of its mandate, the Canadian Gaming Association sponsors industry specific research and collates other relevant national and international industry information in order to serve as a national clearinghouse providing timely and accurate gaming industry data.
The accompanying slides provide a more detailed look at specific parts of the Canadian gaming industry.
