The Canadian Gaming Association (CGA) today celebrates the arrival of legal single-event sports betting across Canada, which culminates a decade-long effort to allow provinces to offer single-event wagering to sports betting fans.
“This is a fantastic day for the Canadian gaming industry,” said Paul Burns, President and CEO of the CGA. “Provinces will finally be able to offer a modern sports betting product and put regulations in place to ensure that customer, athlete, and match-fixing protections are included.”
For Canada’s casinos, the ability to open retail sports books will be a welcomed COVID recovery tool to enhance their gaming floors and introduce new content and experiences to their customers.
“The CGA looks forward to working in partnership with Provincial governments and our members – casino operators, gaming technology suppliers, and sports book operators – as they move forward with their plans to legally offer single-event sports betting” added Mr. Burns.
