- Sophia Arvanitis, Ontario’s Agent-General
- Jeff Harris, Partner and National Leader Sports Business Advisory at Deloitte Canada
- Martha Otton, Executive Director of iGaming Ontario
- Mark Warrington, Director of Legal and Regulatory Affairs at Flutter Entertainment
Guests sat through a short presentation and then moved to a networking reception.
On the first morning of ICE, the CGA participated in the World Regulatory Briefing by hosting the Canada Roundtable. The highlight was the Q&A hosted by Paul Burns with Attorney General Doug Downey and Dale Nally, Minister of Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction. Minister Nally was asked about Alberta’s intentions to follow Ontario by launching an iGaming Market. While he couldn’t provide details or a timeline, he did say that the market would be open and competitive, and that “if you like Ontario, you will like Alberta. You won’t come for the weather but you’ll stay for the low taxes”.
A second panel during the session included Danielle Bush, senior counsel of McCarthy Tétrault’s Business Law Group and Co-Lead of the national Gaming, Lottery and eSports Group, Bruce Caughill, Managing Director, Canada for Rush Street Interactive, Lindsay Slader, Managing Director of Gaming for GeoComply, and Martha Otton, Executive Director of iGaming Ontario.
ICE was a busy show for the Association, with many meetings and exhibit floor conversations, and close to 20,000 steps walked every day!
