TORONTO, ON, March 1, 2018 – The Board of Directors of the Canadian Gaming Association (CGA) is pleased to announce that Paul Burns has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of the CGA, effective immediately.
Mr. Burns has been part of Canada’s gaming industry for approximately 20 years. His first role was as a senior policy advisor to the Ontario minister responsible for gaming and he was tasked with getting Ontario’s charity casino model and slots at racetrack program off the ground. Mr. Burns was also instrumental in the creation and launch the CGA and has served as the association’s Vice President of Public Affairs since 2005.
“Paul is a world-class gaming executive with a wealth of knowledge about the Canadian gaming industry,” said Robert Parente, Chair of the Board of Directors. “He brings outstanding leadership to this association and possesses the vision and skill that the Board requires to advance the CGA over the years to come.”
“The strength of Canadian gaming is well known, and I have been fortunate to experience both the challenges and opportunities that come with working in this industry,” commented Mr. Burns. “Twenty years in gaming have given me a keen understanding of what our industry is facing as I take over as of President and CEO of the CGA. I look forward to working with Bob and the other directors to implement a strategic plan that will function as a roadmap for the association and make us better partners to our members”.
