The Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority has won this year’s Canadian Gaming Award for exemplary volunteerism and community support.
SIGA won the award on Thursday at the Canadian Gaming Awards Gala Benefit in Toronto.
Each year, the Canadian Gaming Association presents the awards to businesses and groups that are recognized as pioneers in the industry and have helped make their communities better places to live.
Three awards are presented annually: One for exemplary volunteerism and community support and two for long-term leadership and outstanding contribution. The last two awards were won by the Alberta Liquor and Gaming Commission and Casino Windsor.
Funds raised at Thursday’s awards gala will go to Variety – The Children’s Charity, which helps children with disabilities and other barriers through integrated sports and like skills programs.
